Description
The Evolution R230RCP 850W Corded Reciprocating Saw delivers powerful, versatile cutting for demolition, renovation, construction and demanding jobs around the home and garden. Fit the appropriate blade to cut wood, mild steel, aluminium, non-ferrous metals and most plastics.
Its 850W motor, 28mm stroke and adjustable stroke rate provide the performance needed for fast cutting across a wide range of materials. The speed can be adjusted from approximately 800 to 2,800 strokes per minute, allowing you to begin each cut slowly before increasing the speed for efficient cutting.
For greater control in awkward positions, the rear handle rotates through 180° and locks securely in three positions. Combined with the manageable 2.7kg weight, this allows you to adjust your grip and working angle when cutting close to floors, walls or other obstructions. An integrated LED work light provides better visibility around the blade and cutting area.
The large pivoting contact plate rests firmly against the workpiece to support the saw throughout the cut. Its position can also be adjusted to alter the saw’s reach and make more effective use of different areas of the blade.
Blade changes are fast and straightforward with the tool-free quick-release blade clamp. The R230RCP includes four reciprocating saw blades: one green-wood blade, one general wood blade, one thin-steel blade and one multi-material blade for cutting metal, plastic and timber containing embedded nails.
With maximum cutting capacities of 230mm in wood, 150mm in plastic and 20mm in mild steel, the R230RCP is ready for jobs ranging from pruning and timber cutting to pipework, renovation and demolition.
Cutting with the R230RCP
Choose a reciprocating saw blade suitable for the material and required cutting capacity. Secure the workpiece whenever possible and hold the saw firmly with both hands.
Begin with a low stroke rate and keep the contact plate firmly against the workpiece before introducing the moving blade into the material. Increase the stroke rate gradually until the saw is cutting efficiently.
Allow the blade to work through the material without applying excessive pressure. Forcing the blade can shorten its working life, increase the risk of breakage and place additional strain on the motor.
Cutting wood
Use the general wood blade for everyday timber cutting or the green-wood blade for pruning, garden clearance and freshly cut timber. For demolition and renovation work, the supplied multi-material blade cuts through timber containing embedded nails.
The R230RCP can cut wood up to 230mm thick when fitted with a suitable blade. Position the contact plate squarely against the timber and guide the saw through the material using steady, controlled pressure.
Cutting metal
Fit the appropriate thin-steel or multi-material blade and secure the workpiece before cutting. Start at a low stroke rate to establish the cut, then increase the speed gradually for efficient progress.
Keep the contact plate firmly against the material to reduce vibration, blade jumping and the risk of blade breakage.
When cutting metal, apply a suitable cutting lubricant along the cutting line to help prevent the blade and material from overheating.
