There are four main types of mitre saw, each designed for specific cutting tasks

Mitre saws are designed for high precision. They allow the angle to be locked in, and often have stops set at common angles allowing the user to make accurate repeatabe cuts.

Most models allow easy blade alignment using a square or digital angle finder during setup, which greatly improves accuracy. With proper calibration, you can achieve extremely accurate cuts every time.
