Are diamond blades made from real diamonds?

No. Diamond blades use incredibly tough synthetic diamond shards, which are moulded to the blade and blade edges to create an extremely sharp cutting tool capable of cutting through the most rugged materials with ease and precision.

Can diamond blades cut through anything?

Diamond blades can cut through most hard materials, but certain blades are more suited to cutting through specific materials. For example, one diamond blade might be suited to cutting through stone, rather than metals. Whereas another diamond blade could cut through metals easily. There are even some diamond blades that can but through steel, but many diamond blades would struggle. Using the wrong blade with the wrong material will dull the blade quicker.

Always refer to the manufacturer's guidance on what materials you should cut with specific blades if you’re unsure. Speak to an Evolution expert, we’d be happy to help.

Do diamond blades last forever?

Diamond blades do not last forever. Like all other blades, they’ll eventually need to be replaced after they’ve been used to their limits. However, diamond blades are incredibly tough, reliable and long-lasting. Depending on the material being cut, diamond blades generally last between 12 and 120 hours. On the higher end, this gives you plenty of time to cut through tough materials before your blade needs to be replaced.

Should you cut wood using a diamond blade?

It’s possible, but not recommended to cut through wood with a diamond blade. Diamond blades are most suited to cutting through very tough materials, like stone and brick. Wood is a lot softer than these materials and will offer very little resistance. The force of the blade would likely cause damage to the wood rather than a clean cut, as well as cause other safety concerns. You should always use the correct blade for the job at hand. We also stock multi-material cutting diamond blades for our disc cutters, which are ideal for cutting a host of different materials such as metal, concrete and more.
