FAQs
1. What’s the best blade for cutting metal?
This depends on the type of metal you’re using. For example, you would be better suited using different blades to cut aluminium and stainless steel, as both these metals have different properties and react differently when cut. Different blades are also designed to cut through metals of differing thicknesses.
If you’d like to know more about which blades would be right for your project, speak to an Evolution expert today.
2. What’s the best power tool for cutting sheet metal?
Because sheet metal is much thinner than other rugged materials, you’re able to use a handheld tool for added speed, rather than relying on a stationary one. A circular saw with a reliable metal blade is a great choice to move your way through multiple pieces of sheet metal quickly and with ease. This works great if you only need to cut the sheet metal in relatively straight lines, but you’ve also got the freedom to cut it into other shapes as well if you wish.
3. Do I need a specific drill cutter to drill metal?
Yes. Not all drill bits are designed to stand up to the resistance of metals, so you need to make sure you buy the right drill and drill bit for the job. A magnetic drill combined with a Tungsten-Molybdenum Steel drill cutter is a great option for cutting through heavy-duty steel and similar metals.
At Evolution, we’re home to multiple drill cutters for a variety of metal drilling, so be sure to check out our full range of drill cutters to find what you need.
4. Can I cut metals with a jigsaw?
Yes, you can. Jigsaws make cutting through metals quick and easy thanks to their handheld capabilities. But you need to make sure you’re using jigsaw blades that are capable of cutting through metals. Otherwise, the blade is likely to snap and cause damage to your piece.
The only drawback in using a jigsaw to cut through metals is that you’re limited to cutting thinner metals. For thicker metals, you’d be better off using a circular saw or a mitre saw with an appropriate metal cutting blade.
