What is the difference between 110v and 230v plug types?

110V power tools are typically used on construction sites and in industrial environments. The lower voltage reduces the risk of serious electric shock if the cable is damaged, making them safer for use in harsh or damp conditions.

230V is the standard voltage supplied to homes in the UK. Tools with a 230V rating plug directly into domestic sockets (usually with a 3-pin UK plug) and are suitable for general DIY or residential use.

18V cordless power tools run on a single 18V battery, offering a great balance between performance and portability. They're ideal for most DIY tasks and professional use where access to mains power is limited.

36V cordless tools often use two 18V batteries simultaneously, delivering higher power for more demanding applications — such as cutting thicker materials or extended heavy-duty use. These tools intelligently draw power from both batteries, offering the performance of a corded tool with the freedom of cordless.
