Introducing the R150DCT Range: Compact Disc Cutters Built for Paving Projects
Discover Evolution’s new R150DCT range: compact 150mm electric disc cutters purpose-built for paving, landscaping, masonry and modern porcelain projects.
Whether you’re laying a new patio, cutting paving to fit a landscaping design or working with modern porcelain slabs, the right tool can make a significant difference to the speed, accuracy and finish of every cut.
Evolution’s new R150DCT range combines the power and control of a purpose-built disc cutter with a compact 150mm design that is easy to own, transport and operate.
Each model features a high-torque 1600W motor, a maximum cutting depth of 53mm and a balanced, two-handed design. This makes the range ideal for cutting common paving slabs and tiles in a single pass, as well as concrete, brick, block, natural stone and other masonry materials.
Available in three specifications, the range allows you to choose the included blade, operator features and dust-control system that best suit your work.
Why did we create a compact 150mm disc cutter?
For many paving and landscaping projects, the choice has traditionally been between adapting an angle grinder or moving up to a much larger disc cutter.
Angle grinders are versatile tools that remain useful for small adjustments, shorter cuts and detailed work. However, they are not purpose-designed primarily around cutting paving and masonry.
Larger disc cutters provide greater cutting depth and capacity, but their additional size, weight and cost may be unnecessary when working with common paving slabs and landscaping materials.
The R150DCT mini disc cutter range was developed to bridge that gap.
Professionals need a versatile and powerful cutter without always requiring the size, cost and complexity of larger equipment. DIY users want something dependable, convenient and cost-effective without specialist knowledge or a complicated setup.
The R150DCT combines these needs in one compact, purpose-built design. Its two-handed operating position, balanced belt drive and wheeled skid plate provide greater support and control throughout the cut, while a 53mm cutting depth allows common paving slabs and tiles to be cut in a single pass.
Where does the R150DCT sit in Evolution’s disc cutter range?
Blade size and cutting depth remain two of the most important considerations when choosing a disc cutter.
The 150mm R150DCT range is designed primarily for paving, tiling and landscaping projects. Its compact size makes it easier to handle than a larger cutter while still providing the depth needed for many common slabs and tiles.
For deeper cuts through bricks, blocks and larger construction materials, Evolution’s larger corded and cordless disc cutters offer increased blade capacity and cutting depth. Customers who prioritise mobility can also choose the cordless R260DCT-Li.
Our full disc cutter buying guide explains the different blade sizes, power options and cutting capacities available across the wider Evolution range.

Balanced belt-drive system
Instead of positioning the motor directly alongside the blade, the belt-drive system separates the two components. This improves weight distribution and balance, helping the operator guide the cutter smoothly and consistently through the material.
The drive arrangement also creates the clearance required to achieve a 53mm cutting depth from a compact 150mm blade.
Wheeled metal skid plate
The wheeled skid plate supports the machine as it moves across the material. This helps maintain the cutter’s position and alignment, making longer, straighter cuts easier to control.
Overload Protection Technology
Available on the R150DCT and R150DCT-PRO, Overload Protection Technology provides real-time feedback when excessive pressure is applied.
This helps the operator maintain an effective cutting rate without unnecessarily forcing the machine through the material, while protecting the motor against overload.
Electronic blade brake
When the trigger is released, the electronic blade brake rapidly slows the blade. This reduces the time spent waiting for it to stop before putting the machine down or preparing for the next cut.
Electric cutting without petrol-engine complexity
The R150DCT range provides dependable mains-powered performance without the fuel, exhaust fumes or servicing requirements associated with a petrol engine.
A corded cutter does require access to an appropriate electrical supply. Petrol battery powered machines may therefore remain better suited to remote locations where mains power is unavailable. However, where a suitable supply is accessible, electric power can make everyday setup, operation and ownership considerably more straightforward.

Which R150DCT should you choose?
The best model depends on the features and dust-control options you need, not whether you are a DIY or professional user.
R150DCT-SE: dependable purpose-built cutting
The R150DCT-SE provides the essential features and cutting performance of the range in a straightforward, cost-effective package.
It has the same 1600W motor, 53mm cutting depth, balanced belt drive and wheeled skid plate as the other two models. It is supplied with Evolution’s Essential Diamond Blade for dependable cutting through concrete, paving, brick, block, natural stone and masonry.
Choose the R150DCT-SE if you want a compact, convenient and purpose-built alternative to adapting an angle grinder for paving and masonry work.
R150DCT: upgraded blade and operator features
The R150DCT shares the same core cutting capacity but adds several practical upgrades.
Its included Endurance Diamond Blade contains 30% more diamond than Evolution’s Essential blade, providing an upgraded option for demanding paving and masonry applications.
Overload Protection Technology helps the operator maintain an effective cutting rate, while the rubber overmould grip and integrated rafter hook add further control and convenience.
Choose the R150DCT if you want the upgraded Endurance blade and additional operator features without requiring integrated water suppression.
R150DCT-PRO: integrated water suppression
The R150DCT-PRO is the most complete model in the range.
It includes the Endurance Diamond Blade, Overload Protection Technology and operator features of the R150DCT, while adding an integrated dual-sided water-suppression system and longer 3.5m power cable.
Water is delivered directly to both sides of the blade and cutting area, helping control airborne dust at source while cooling the blade and material. A manual valve allows the flow to be adjusted at the tool, and the universal hose connection and required water fittings are supplied with the cutter.
Choose the R150DCT-PRO for wet cutting, enhanced dust control and porcelain projects when fitted with the appropriate specialist blade.
Control hazardous dust at source
Cutting concrete, paving, brick, block and natural stone can release extremely fine construction dust into the air. Some of these materials contain silica, which can create respirable crystalline silica dust when cut.
These particles are small enough to penetrate deep into the lungs. Regular exposure can contribute to serious and potentially life-changing conditions, including silicosis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and lung cancer.
For professional work in Great Britain, the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations require employers to assess and adequately control exposure to hazardous substances. HSE guidance for cutting paving, blocks, kerbs and flags identifies water suppression or suitable on-tool extraction as important engineering controls.
The R150DCT-PRO delivers water directly to both sides of the blade and cutting zone. This helps reduce the amount of dust that becomes airborne while also cooling the blade and material.
However, water suppression alone does not remove every particle. Appropriate respiratory protective equipment remains essential, alongside any other PPE identified by the instructions and task-specific risk assessment.
For professional cutting, HSE recommends respiratory protection with an assigned protection factor of at least 20, such as a suitable FFP3 disposable mask or half-mask with a P3 filter. Tight-fitting respiratory protection must be suitable for the wearer and face-fit tested. Always follow current local regulations and official workplace guidance.
The R150DCT-SE and R150DCT also include a 25mm dust-extraction port for connection to a compatible dust extractor. The extraction port remains available on the PRO when a suitable dry-cutting method is required.

A purpose-designed system for modern porcelain paving
Porcelain paving has become a popular choice for patios and landscaped spaces because it is hard, dense, durable and available in a wide range of finishes.
Those same properties also make it more challenging to cut than many traditional paving materials. Using a standard segmented masonry blade can increase vibration and cutting resistance, raising the risk of chipping along the finished edge.
The Evolution 150mm Porcelain & Tile Diamond Blade is engineered specifically for cutting hard, brittle porcelain materials.

Turbo mesh rim technology
The specialist turbo mesh diamond rim creates a fine, controlled cutting action while helping clear debris from the cut. This supports efficient progress through dense porcelain and helps reduce chipping along the finished edge.
Reinforced stabiliser ring
The stabiliser ring strengthens the blade core and helps resist flex and vibration. Greater blade stability supports straighter, more controlled cutting, particularly across large-format porcelain paving slabs.
Thin-kerf cutting profile
A thin-kerf blade removes less material as it cuts. This reduces cutting resistance and load on the machine while helping manage heat around the cutting edge.
When paired with the R150DCT-PRO, the dual-sided water feed cools the blade and material while helping control dust at source. Together, they create Evolution’s purpose-designed system for cutting modern porcelain paving.
The Porcelain & Tile Diamond Blade is sold separately and must be fitted in place of the Endurance masonry blade supplied with the R150DCT-PRO.
